We are delighted to announce a very first Mnemosynes workshop led by the inimitable Dorothea Lasky. To celebrate the continued release of her book MEMORY, published by Spiral House Editions (a new imprint of Silver Press), Dorothea will be with us on June 13, 2026 from 2-4pm at Rerenga Wines to lead a two-hour generative workshop on the theme of memory.
Here’s what she says about the workshop:
In this Memory workshop for the Mnemosynes series, we will explore our own memories and how they can be generative for writing. We will discuss the ephemeral nature of memories, how they can be classified, and how they are not fixed. Reading poems by Bernadette Mayer, Bhanu Kapil, George Moses Horton, and Lola Ridge, we will examine how poets have used memory as a foundation for their writing. Participants will imagine a project and/or exhibit on memory they would like to create in the future and will write new poems inspired by the workshop discussion and prompts.
Due to the intimate nature of this event, hopeful participants should email us at verseofapril@gmail.com to reserve their spot. Rerenga Wines will have Dorothea’s book for sale. Donations to the poet and organizers welcome on a pay what you can basis.
